Thank you for reading the emails in this short training course.
I hope you’ve enjoyed them and written some great work.
Here are some of the books discussed in the series: if you buy one of them on Amazon, I may get a small compensation.
In addition, if you would like to use these emails in a classroom of your own, or would like to refer to them in a clean, neat format, I have prepared a pdf version of the series for download. The full pdf is six dollars: you can create copies for your students, share with your writing circle: the only requirement is that you cannot pass of this work as your own, which I’m sure you weren’t even considering to begin with.
Also — several writers on this course have asked me if I am willing to provide tailored feedback on their story.
That is the kind of work I love doing.
DO NOT WORRY IF YOUR STORY SEEMS ROUGH OR UNFINISHED. We can discuss exactly how to complete it.
I work with a small number of fiction writers as a coach and editor, helping people build their craft and get their projects finished.
Normally, I would charge around 50-60 dollars an hour, and it would take me perhaps an hour and half to read one draft and construct useful feedback.
However, I also would like to keep things simple and affordable for the people on this course.
So I’ve created a special fixed price — it’s only for people who have gone through this series.
This rate is specifically for people who have written somewhere around 800 to 3,000 words of their story.
For a fixed, total fee of $45, I will read through your “six-step” story as it is written right now, and write up my responses, as well as recording a voice message giving you as much feedback as I can.
I’ll send both the written comments and the voice mail back to you by email.
I’ll comment on the voice, style, pacing, as well as making suggesting for how you could develop and finish the story.
I’ll mix broad writing craft suggestions with practical focused steps for your individual piece of fiction.
(I’ve lectured on the craft of fiction at conferences around the United States. One writer who has worked with me in this way described my voicemail-feedback as “invaluable.”)
PS I’m going to increase this fixed price over the summer (just because I only have so much time to work with authors).
Therefore, if that sounds like something you would enjoy, I encourage you to try it out now.
